The Top Eight Worst Comments on the Sopranos Series Finale
Posted Sunday, June 10th, 2007
As a poor sap without even basic cable (let alone HBO), I’ve watched about a combined ten minutes of the Sopranos. Yet, neophyte that I am, I can still pick out the uniformed, the ludicrous, the completely ridiculous opinions of those who just don’t get it.
Updated: I think I was being a bit hard on #8, which really doesn’t deserve to be on this list; I’ve replaced it with something much worthier.
(Note to self - don’t hang out at TVSquad. Christ - I could compile a top ten list from content at that site alone.)
8. From Dolomite @ digg:
just cancelled hbo. if all us diggers stick together we can send a real message. everyone cancell HBO subscriptions, even for a month. with millions of cancellations from us diggers hbo will definately get the message that they screwed up big time. hit them where it hurts, in the wallet. Lets go diggers!
Yeah! Get the word out! DIGG FTW!
8. From MikeyLikesTV.com:
The optimistic title of the final episode led me to believe that we weren’t going to witness any bloodshed in Tony’s immediate family, but the tension David Chase created left me convinced up until the last moment that something devastating was going to happen. Nothing ever did. Aside from the delightfully gruesome/deserved whacking of Phil Leotardo, there wasn’t even any violence.
This is a well-written blog entry, but the fact that the author never mentions even the remote possibility that bloodshed was, in fact, that exact end to the series, means he suffers from a serious lack of imagination. Expect an update and a self-kicking in the morning.
7. From peter @ MySpace:
There is now a man more hated in America than George W. and that is the Mr. Chase, or whoever was responsible for the worst ending in TV history. Unless of course it was a gov’t conspiracy.. we have probably just invaded Iran or something!
U figured it out !
6. From spickoli @ sepinwall.blogspot.com:
Perfect ending! True brilliance!!! You refuse to finish something because the entire world had outlined every possible scenario and you are too smart for that! Hell ya, don’t rely on any sort of “Craft”, just refuse to participate.
This just-in….France having pulled out of Iraq, is auctioning 100,000 bullet proof vests… one catch the Kevlar is only on the back.
DC is a coward!
Heh.

“what a piece of sh…….the ending was stupit I expected more”
Wow.
4. From jameskong15 @ digg:
I don’t know how people are coming up with the idea that we are seeing it through his eyes or whatever. The last picture we saw was of Tony. If it had been through his eyes, we would have been looking at the door (as was the case multiple times immediately prior to the ending).
Jesus. Talk about missing the forest for the fucking trees.
3. From robman1967 @ TVSquad:
“all that tension for nothing. i was ready for tony to get it and then fade to black. are we to assume he got shot? or what, talk about big let downs.”
Yeah, no kidding. It’s kinda like that time when I was reading this comment on some blog; I was totally ready for it to be insightful - total letdown.
2. From mike @ slashfilm:
“terrible. pretentious. lame.”
(Thanks for your CmdrTaco-esque moment.)
And the current winner:
1. From Britt @ TVSQuad:
PLAIN STUIPED.

ughugh.
what happend?
what i think; the guy in the bathroom was a terorist and blew the place up. or shot tony.
OR, someone shot Meadow.
:Snot sure.
gay ending,
Again. I provide comment permalinks to show you that I’m not making this up. Wow.
[poll=2]

Though I’m still quite convinced that the tension in the final scene was a tease and nothing more, I would like to submit another stupid comment for your consideration. “Entourage Watcher” over at Maureen Ryan’s blog said, “David Chase should take lessons from the creators of LOST on how to write a season finale!
